The term Haryana is derived from two Sanskrit words i.e., ‘Hari’ which means God and ‘Ayana’ means home. Haryana has a population of approximately 29.9 million (Chetna, 2022). It is the seventeenth most populous state in India. It consists of 22 districts, 140 blocks and 7,356 villages (GOV, 2022). It ranks well in terms of sex ratio i.e., 879 per 1000 males, literacy rate (75.5 percent) which is higher than the country’s average (GOV, 2022). However, if we consider the unemployment then the state has the highest unemployment rate. The economy of Haryana comprises of 21 percent of the share of agriculture, 28 percent industry and 51 percent services (DOESA, 2022). The political power to influence people and to gather votes lies with the Khap Panchayats. The panchayat consists of members from the Jat community and from the upper caste, who make decisions based on long-standing conventions and traditions. Even after Supreme Court being inclined towards boycotting the Khap Panchayats which are contemplated as defender of culture, the political parties support their existence by appraising them as a cultural group (Correspondent, 2018). Through the medium of this paper, we intend to analyse the type of events that took place since 2014 through primary data collection and check for the correlation between education, unemployment and where the political power resides.
